CitizenCon 2013

CitizenCon 2013 (2943 In-Lore) was a live event organised by Cloud Imperium Games to celebrate the 1st anniversary of Star Citizen's announcement. The event took place on 10 October 2013 in downtown Austin, USA. The event was also livestreamed for the wider Star Citizen community. The event was pitched as a "special keynote presentation to show everyone the work we've been doing this past year... and talk about what's coming next!"

This CitizenCon presented the development status of Star Citizen one year after the project's announcement. The event included updates from the design, engineering, and art teams, as well as presentations from external development partners. Several features and assets were introduced, including the Gladiator and the Retaliator, the Organizations system, the Hangar module update, the Avenger shown in-engine, and the Next Great Starship community competition. Cloud Imperium Games also announced the opening of Foundry 42's Manchester studio, led by Erin Roberts, to develop Squadron 42. In addition, CIG enlisted Turbulent who presented the RSI web infrastructure and upcoming community features supporting the project's online ecosystem like the funding system that replaced the original Kickstarter campaign.
