The 8-SCU container is a standardized[1] cargo container with a measure of 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 m m[2] and a internal volume of 8 SCU (2x2x2 1-SCU crates). These containers are a means to bundle cargo and goods into larger, unitized loads, that can be easily handled, moved, and stacked, and that will pack tightly in a ship or yard. They are the minimum-equippable sized container for most of the cargo ships.
