Thermal shielding

Thermal shielding is a general term for manufactured technology capable of artificially sustaining life in extreme temperature environments. The term can refer to anything from enhanced spacesuit technology that allows EVA work, to the combination of electromagnetic shielding and hull plating necessary for spacecraft to operate near stars or other extreme sources of temperature. Thermal shielding is generally capable of blocking heat, radioactivity and light to varying degrees.[1]
