Flight I was the designation given to the first six Idris-class vessels comprising the class' first Flight, commissioned between 2551 and 2552. This included the first vessel of the series, the UEEN Idris, as well as the UEEN Ashton. The initial ships had flammability issues and poor placement of firefighting equipment, leading to the deaths of 17 crewmembers aboard the UEEN Ashton. This flaw would lead to the development of the refined Flight II Idris.[1]
