The Drake Interplanetary Command module is a module with command capabilities for the Caterpillar and the Ironclad series of ships by Drake Interplanetary.^[1] It steers the ship when it's attached, and serves as an escape pod as well.^[2] It can be separated from the rest of the ship and be flown independently, then dock back.^[3] It's designed for emergencies and is not intended to be used as a primary ship.^[2]^[4]

It enables the player to forsake their ship and cargo, thereby ensuring their own safety when faced with peril, which becomes significant in relation to death mechanics and their subsequent penalties.^[2] When docking back, it takes back control of the whole ship.^[3]

There are currently no plans to have different command modules per ship.^[5]

Defense

The vessel has two Size 3 gun hardpoints at the front-side as well as a top mounted remote turret that can hold a pair for Size 2 guns.

Tractor Beam

Under the front of the ship is a remotely operated Size 2 tractor beam.

Jump seats

On the upper deck, there are jump seating that can carry up to ten people.

Stowage

Under each of the ten jump seats, there are personal storage lockers that can each hold 1 SCU of various items.

Weapon/Utility racks

There a two racks is available, capable of accommodating two Size 2 weapons.

Living quarters

On the lower deck, there are two beds along with a kitchenette area and a table that accommodates two individuals.
